Official Name Change Day – January 5, 1846

On the 5^th of January each year, the Almont Community Historical Society will celebrate the registration with the State of Michigan of the change of the township’s name from Bristol to Almont and the village’s name from Newburg to Almont, which occurred on January 5, 1846.
